LITERATURE REVIEW
I began my research by reviewing academic journals related to the affects of social media on self-esteem and confidence. I also examined articles that explored the negative effects of beauty ideals and the self-comparison to these ideals.
An Inside Look into My Content Analysis
This video from the Domics Youtube channel is one of many videos that was a part of my content analysis in which I reviewed the comments of social media posts. The first 30 seconds of this video briefly summarizes the definition and conflict regarding insecurities that has guided the focus of my project.
TECHNIQUES
SCULPTING WITH CLAY
During this project I refined my ability to work with clay by creating sculptures that each had differing structural challenges. Using additive and subtractive techniques, I was able to create dimension while exploring the capabilities of a 3D medium.
ACRYLIC PAINT
I painted each sculpture with acrylic paint which allowed me to learn techniques that created a layering of many different shades. I tested many different color mixing experiments to arrive at the final color palette of each sculpture.
PHOTOGRAPHY
In order to showcase each sculpture on my exhibition website I photographed each of my pieces from several different angles. I learned about the effects of different kinds of lighting on the mood of a photo and I refined my skills of photo editing using a photoshop software.
